Donnelly Foundation donates vital funds to Cruse Bereavement Support

The Foyle branch of leading bereavement charity, Cruse Bereavement Support, has benefited from a generous donation from Donnelly Group Foundation, enhancing its provision of services to children and young people.

The charity, which is located only fifteen minutes from Donnelly Group’s Eglinton branch, offers face-to-face, group, telephone, email and website support to people after someone close to them has passed away and works to enhance society's care of bereaved people.

Roisin Donnelly, spokesperson for Donnelly Foundation, said:

“At Donnelly Foundation, we are passionate about making an impactful difference to the lives of the people in our community.

“Grief can be confusing and hugely upsetting, especially for children, meaning it is vital that resources and services are available to help them process their emotions and understand their experiences in a healthy and age-appropriate manner.

“We are pleased to have been able to donate funds for new books and support session resources that will allow Cruse to continue to help children navigate the complex emotions surrounding loss and develop healthy coping mechanisms.”

Donnelly Foundation, which was launched by Donnelly Group in 2019, provides financial support to various groups, projects, and clubs across the country with the aim of giving back to the communities in which it operates.

Katie O'Neill, Manager at Cruse Bereavement Support Foyle commented:

“Children and young people come to Cruse at a difficult time in their lives, so it is important that we make their experience a positive one.

“All our story books, paints, beads, memory jars, bears, boxes and craft materials help us to make that happen.

“They are an essential part of the work that we do here to allow these children to explore their grief in a safe and constructive way and we are very grateful to the Donnelly Foundation for their support.”

Cruse Bereavement Support offers specialist grief support to everyone - no matter how or when the death occurred- and all of its services are completely free and confidential.

The Foyle branch has been established in Derry/Londonderry for almost 30 years, providing support to children, young people and adults.
