Artigarvan nursery makes great leaps Donnelly Foundation Donation

Artigarvan Primary and Community Nursery, located in Strabane, has been announced as the latest project to receive financial support from Donnelly Foundation.

The school received an outdoor tunnel rock climbing frame from the charitable fund, aiming to support its play-based learning initiatives and further the development of children’s cognitive and motor skills.

Roisin Donnelly, spokesperson for Donnelly Foundation, said:

“For over 75 years, Donnelly Group has been committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we work, and in 2019 we launched Donnelly Foundation as an outlet to support individuals, causes, and projects across Northern Ireland.

“Providing Artigarvan Primary School and Community Nursey, located only 30 minutes away from our Eglinton motorstore, with new outdoor play equipment will help to foster physical and mental wellbeing amongst its pupils, promote an active lifestyle, and improve their social skills.”

Donnelly Foundation has supported 18 projects across Northern Ireland, including Golden Star Boxing in Co. Tyrone and Castlecaulfield Football Club in Mid Ulster, providing financial assistance to schools, community projects, sport clubs and more.

Mrs Preston, Artigarvan Nursery teacher, said:

“Artigarvan Primary and Community Nursery is the first time that many of our young people will experience an official learning setting, and it can be overwhelming to adapt to the unfamiliar environment.

“Adding a splash of colour and adventure to our playground will enable children see the fun side of coming to school, in addition to creating a feeling of community and friendship when they are able to play together.

“Thanks to the generous donation from Donnelly Foundation, we have been able to help our children feel more comfortable, encourage a desire to learn about the world around us, and develop their sense of adventure.”
