DONNELLY FOUNDATION DONATES LIFE-SAVING EQUIPMENT TO LOCAL UNDERWATER SEARCH AND RECOVERY CHARITY

Tyrone Underwater Search and Recovery, based in Dungannon, has received a donation of life-saving equipment from Donnelly Foundation.

The vital funding, supplied by Donnelly Foundation, a charitable fund established by Northern Ireland's largest independent vehicle retailer, Donnelly Group, will enable the charity to purchase oxygen tanks and underwater exposure suits that will ensure the safety of volunteers and staff.

Roisin Donnelly, spokesperson for Donnelly Foundation, said:

“For over 70 years, Donnelly Foundation has been passionate about making an impactful difference to the lives of the people in our local communities.

“We are aware that these recoveries can be a hugely sensitive and upsetting time for both the families and volunteers, and it is crucial that these oxygen tanks and exposure suits are available to ensure that all procedures are carried out in the safest manner possible.

“We are very proud to be able to lend our support in investing in these vital resources and hope they go a long way in benefitting the operations of Tyrone Underwater Search and Recovery.”

Since its creation in 2019, Donnelly Foundation has supported over 30 projects across Northern Ireland, providing financial assistance to various charity initiatives, events and campaigns including Golden Star Boxing Club, Cruse Bereavement Support and Air Ambulance NI.

Malachy Foe, spokesperson for Tyrone Underwater Search and Recovery, said:

“At Tyrone Underwater Search and Recovery, our priority is to provide support to local families in need.

“This generous donation for the new equipment ensures the welfare of our brave volunteers, and we are now able to further assist the emergency services in more specialised underwater search and recovery operations.

“We have been overwhelmed with the support and generosity from the local community and we would like to extend our gratitude to Donnelly Foundation for assisting us in reaching our goals.”
