Donnelly Group Foundation Golf Day Raises £6,060 for AWARE NI

A charity golf day held by the Donnelly Group, Northern Ireland’s largest family-owned vehicle retailer, has raised £6,060 for a local mental health charity.

The proceeds will be donated to the Donnelly Group’s charity partner, AWARE NI, which aims to support the mental health of local people through online and offline support groups.

The event was held at Concra Wood Golf & Country Club, County Monaghan.

Roisin Donnelly, a spokesperson for Donnelly Group Foundation has said:

“AWARE NI was chosen as our charity partner by employees across our 9 sites for the tremendous work they do supporting and promoting mental health in Northern Ireland.

“The last 18 months have been particularly difficult for those struggling with mental health, so we are committed to raising vital funds for AWARE NI and are grateful for the generosity of our staff and customers to date.

“Our Golf fundraiser was a huge success with 124 golfers taking part throughout the day. It was great to reunite with customers and partners and most importantly to raise such a huge sum of money for AWARE NI.

“Thank you to everyone who took part and to the companies who provided sponsorship and the excellent prizes for our golfers.”

Prizes for the winners included four-ball games at Belvoir, Bushfoot, Castlerock, Dungannon and Edenmore Golf Clubs as well as an overnight stay in the Lough Erne Resort and Jaguar Land Rover merchandise.

Clare Galbraith, Head of Fundraising at AWARE NI, which is this year celebrating its 25th anniversary, commented:

“We are incredibly grateful to Donnelly Group for their ongoing commitment to raising awareness of the services provided by AWARE NI.

“With the ongoing Covid restrictions over the last year, people have felt more isolated than ever, so the latest fundraising efforts by Donnelly Group will go a long way in supporting those in need in our community.”

AWARE NI is the only charity in Northern Ireland working exclusively for people with depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. They have an established network of 23 support groups rural and urban areas across Northern Ireland.

The groups provide a safe space to meet with others on a similar journey who can understand, encourage, and suggest helpful ways of coping. AWARE NI also delivers mental health awareness courses to schools, workplaces, community groups, and hospitals to equip people with the tools they need to best look after their minds.
