Name: Paul McMulkin

Position: Site Director, Enniskillen

When did you join Donnelly Group? December 2001

Has your role changed since then and how? I joined the company as a Junior Sales Executive for Volkswagen and have progressed through to Sales Manager and on to Head of Business for both Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Commercial Vehicles. I am also the Site Director for the Enniskillen branch. Before joining Donnelly Group I started my motor trade career as an Apprentice Technician too many years ago to admit!

What are the things you like best about your role? Every day in retail is different, with different opportunities and challenges, so it’s the variety this role gives me. I am definitely a people person so I enjoy the daily customer contact as well as the ‘one team’ spirit within our branch. I work with some very dedicated team members whom I have seen grow in confidence and experience, to become very valued work colleagues.

What are the key skills you need to fulfil your role? Positivity, energy and enthusiasm needs to be an inherent characteristic. I think everyone in a management role also has to have the ability to spin a lot of plates, enjoy the challenges and be a really good communicator.

What do you like to do in your own time? Firstly I am a family man at heart and my girls come first. I have another passion and that is Cycling, I am a MAMIL. I race 3 different disciplines: Road, Time Trial and Cyclocross, at both National and Club level. I recently competed at the Irish National Cyclocross Championships where I finished 6th, I was delighted with that.
