Hello, my name is Bronagh McErlean and I am a final year student from St. Mary’s University College Belfast. I have had the privilege to complete my university placement with Donnelly Group in the Marketing department within the head offices at Dungannon Jaguar Land Rover showroom. When applying for my placement, Donnelly Group were very pro-active in engaging with me prior to starting my placement in February. Thereby, building great excitement and anticipation to starting.
Since joining I have been engaged in many different tasks allowing me the opportunity to interact with different departments within the business and gain further communication skills. I have worked on many events including; new car launches, helped out with the digital marketing; social media content and website content, working in the showrooms; first hand communication/ interaction with the customers, liaising with all nine Donnelly Group locations across Northern Ireland and responding to all questions and queries on our 24/7 live chat conversations. I have learned and developed many skills and qualities which previously I had only heard about in lectures and seminars.
Furthermore, I got to know the motor market by closely watching all of Donnelly Groups competitors and thereby getting hands on experience with market research. This placement has enabled me to step out on my own and work independently with help and support if needed. I couldn’t thank my team in Donnelly Group enough for everything that has been done for me; this experience has been phenomenal and will definitely contribute to my employability opportunities.
Thanks for everything, Bronagh McErlean.
