The new Citroën Berlingo Van has won the coveted ‘Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year’ trophy at the What Van? Awards 2019. The van also picked up a second trophy, the ‘Light Van of the Year’ category. The accolades were presented just as the new van makes its appearance in showrooms across the UK. Just as the new Berlingo van goes on sale in the UK, it has started to rack up the awards by securing the coveted ‘Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year’ title at the What Van? Awards 2019. In addition, the new Berlingo van beat off the competition to take the award for ‘Light Van of the Year’. These latest awards come within months of the new Berlingo van being named ‘International Van of the Year’ 2019.
James Dallas, Editor of What Van?, said; “The Berlingo has always been a big seller for Citroën and the new van sees it take a step up in terms of quality, performance and practicality. Along with its PSA Group siblings, the Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo, the Berlingo Van has an excellent choice of engines wedded to much-improved transmissions, including the outstanding EAT8 automatic.”
James added; “There is a wealth of new safety and driver assistance kit, with two particularly noteworthy additions being the on-board weighing system and the surround rear-vision camera. Trim levels are revised to suit applications, with ‘Enterprise’ now topped by the flagship ‘Driver’ specification, with ‘Worker’ designed to traverse more rugged terrain, such as building sites.”
The new Citroën Berlingo van introduces a host of new driver assistance and safety systems in the light van sector, with features such as Surround Rear Vision, Colour Head-up Display, Active Safety Brake, Blind Spot Monitoring and Front, Rear and Side parking sensors.
The van is available in two lengths, M and XL, with payloads between 667kg and 1,050kg. Trim levels named ‘X’, ‘Worker’, ‘Enterprise’ and ‘Driver’ are available. Standard equipment includes remote central locking with deadlocks and separate locking for the cab, a full steel bulkhead, electric front windows, electrically adjustable door mirrors, automatic headlights, DAB radio, Bluetooth® connectivity, Citroën Connect Box with Emergency and Assistance system, unglazed asymmetric rear doors, six tie-down hooks in the load area and an overhead storage shelf in the cab.
In addition to the What Van? wins for New Berlingo Van, Citroën Dispatch was also Highly Commended in the ‘Medium Van of the Year’ category. Citroën Dispatch was previously voted ‘Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year’ in 2017 and ‘Medium Van of the Year’ in 2018.
