Double win for the new Citroën Berlingo Van and its green sibling the Berlingo Electric van at the 2019 Business Van Awards. The new Berlingo Van added to its growing number of awards when it picked up Best Small Trades Van. The Berlingo Electric van took home the Best Green Van award as it was recognised as an important answer to the growing demand for electric delivery vans due to its minimal environmental impact made by its electric drivetrain. The Berlingo Electric was one of the first vans to offer rapid charging enabling it to be charged to 80% of full battery capacity in just 30 minutes, greatly enhancing its usability in the process.
“We are starting to see a swing towards electric delivery vans and the attraction of an EV for deliveries around town is gathering pace”, says Business Vans Managing Editor Chris Wright, “The Berlingo Electric fits the bill nicely and our judges were also impressed that Citroën offers demonstrator vehicles and loan vans as well as hosting regular business to business events.”
Citroën’s second winner of the night was the company’s newest LCV, New Berlingo Van, which was launched last autumn. New Berlingo Van BlueHDi 100 S&S manual M 1000 Enterprise was crowned Best Small Trades Van, adding yet another honour to the growing list it has already accumulated.
“The new Berlingo Van builds on the solid reputation of previous models, which have established a strong reputation for reliability”, commented Chris Wright, “The judges were impressed that it has the lowest fuel consumption figures in its class. Van operators also benefit from a range of services offered to Citroën business and LCV customers.”
New Berlingo Van has been racking up the awards since its launch last year. It won the 2019 International Van of the Year award at the IAA Hanover CV Show, and in December it was named both Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year and Light Van of the Year at the 2019 What Van? Awards. In January 2019, New Citroën Berlingo Van won the Small Van of the Year award, as presented by Company Car and Van magazine.
