The service that keeps you moving.

A car doesn’t just get us from A to B.

It's a place for reflection, space and independence. A place for silence or for talk. Sat side by side, cocooned within this intimate, four-walled space we have precious time to spend with loved ones.

This experience is invaluable to everyone. Which is why we believe going for a drive should be accessible to all. It’s more than just a drive.

We believe that everyone should have the freedom to move. And we can provide you with the means to move on your terms, every day with the Motability Scheme.

Use your qualifying mobility allowance to lease a brand-new vehicle. You'll get the Scheme’s all inclusive package, including insuranceservicingmaintenancebreakdown cover, MOT, repairs and tyres and support with electric vehicle (EV) charging. Set off with peace of mind and the confidence to make every journey possible. Just fuel or charge and off you go.

Do I Qualify?

To qualify, you must be in receipt of one of the government-funded mobility allowances listed below with at least 12-months allowance remaining.

  • Enhanced rate mobility part of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Higher rate mobility part of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Enhanced rate mobility part of Adult Disability Payment (Scotland)
  • Higher rate mobility component of Child Disability payment (Scotland)
  • War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Motability Scheme? The Motability Scheme offers an all-inclusive package that allows anyone in receipt of either: the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA), the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP), the War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or the Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP), to use their mobility allowance to lease a car, scooter, powered wheelchair or wheelchair accessible vehicle.
How does it work?

Rather than collecting a PIP allowance (Personal Independence Payment) this can be exchanged to lease a vehicle from a manufacturer using the Motability Operations programme.

Is there an age restriction on the Scheme?

The HRMC-DLA can be awarded to disabled children aged three and above. So, if you are a parent or guardian of a child who receives the allowance, you can order a car for use on their behalf. As long as you, or your child, receives either the HRMC-DLA or WPMS you are eligible to lease a car through Motability.

Can I still get a car on the Scheme, when I've got less than three years left on my HRMC-DLA?

You should expect to receive the allowance for the full length of the agreement you choose. However, Motability accepts applications as long as you have at least 12 months of your award remaining when you apply.
