The Peugeot 5008 redefines the stylish MPV. With good looks and a sophisticated interior, Peugeot has managed to make a hugely practical car into a desirable family motor. There are a number of engines to choose from, and inspiring handling makes threading it down twisty back roads a lot of fun.
Peugeot 5008 Design
The Peugeot 5008 takes the practicality and clever design of an MPV and adds smart looks and a stylish interior. Outside you get the familiar Peugeot face, echoing the 508 and smaller 3008 MPV. However, the huge windscreen gives a sleek, streamlined appeal and fills the cabin with natural light.
It feels extremely spacious, and quirky design features like the wraparound light clusters and darkened door pillars help it to stand out. Inside, the 5008 gets a gorgeous sweeping layout, with chrome dials and a raised gearbox mount.
Flexibility is the name of the game with the 5008. You get a choice of five or seven seats, and a boot that is big even for an MPV. It’s child’s play to switch from one seating combination to another and there’s room for taking the family away. The 5008 rides beautifully and soaks up bumps and ridges in the road without even breaking a sweat. But the real joy comes in the bends – although the steering feels light, it is accurate and inspires confidence.
The 5008 is one of the most efficient cars in its class, reaching 62.7mpg in the combined cycle, with CO2 emissions of just 117g/km. One reason for this is the Michelin Energy Saver Tyres, which are fitted on 16-inch wheels and can reduce resistance by 20 percent. In real terms, this means that in over 100 kilometres you’ll use 0.2 litres less fuel than you would with standard tyres. Occupants in the front seats are protected by front and side airbags, while curtain airbags run the full length of the cabin. Stability control is fitted as standard to help you avoid an accident in the first place.
