And because the gear lever is now positioned behind the steering wheel, there is additional space and storage in the centre console – even for your tablet. Its clever space concept also increases the luggage compartment capacity by up to 40 litres, to 690 litres in total. With the rear seat bench folded down, the total luggage capacity increase to 1,920 litres.
The standard Full Electric Tailgate operation is a further highlight. It allows the boot lid to be opened and closed with a simple foot gesture – no hands needed. The luggage compartment package features a 12V electric socket as standard as well as a net partition, a variable luggage compartment floor and roller cover.

Elegance and R-Line trims benefit from 13 point massage and heated functionality, as standard. The seat cushion and backrest can be heated separately. All trims can upgrade to ventilated seats optionally.

Who isn’t familiar with the situation: one passenger is too cold, the other too hot. This is now a thing of the past with the Air Care Climatronic air conditioning system available as standard. From the Life trim upwards, the temperature can be controlled independently in three zones. The driver and front seat passenger as well as back seat passengers can each enjoy their preferred feel-good temperature – with separate controls even provided on the rear row of seats. But if that’s not enough: Air Care Climatronic is quieter the slower you drive. And as soon as you use the windscreen cleaner or engage reverse gear, recirculation mode is activated automatically. This keeps smells outside and ensures the perfect climate on every journey.

The “Discover” navigation system features a 32.8 cm (12.9 inch) touchscreen, intuitive navigation with Dynamic Road Sign Display and an aerial for FM and DAB+ digital radio reception. As a wireless interface, the system is also readied for App-Connect Wireless and has several USB-C ports (charging capacity of up to 45 W) as well as pre-installed map material. “Discover” provides you with access to the entire world of networked online services from VW Connect Plus.

For those who want more infotainment, the optional Discover Pro Max navigation system with its 38.1 cm (15 inch) touchscreen and the new IDA voice assistant offers numerous technical extras such as Dynamic Road Sign Display and personalisable home screen, which make every journey even more comfortable.
Select songs, system settings or vehicle data via the Discover Pro Max navigation system intuitively and conveniently by touch or voice. The system impresses with pre-installed map material, speakers in the first and second row of seats as well as DAB+ digital radio reception. USB-C ports (charging capacity of up to 45 W), a mobile phone interface with external aerial connection and inductive charging function as well as use of VW Connect Plus online services complete the infotainment experience.

The new IDA voice assistant allows you to conveniently operate the radio, telephone, your music, the optional three-zone air conditioning system and optional navigation unit with your voice. For example, you can select the radio station or choose the address book entry or telephone number you’re looking for with your voice.
The voice assistant can be started with “Hello IDA”. It also understands free formulations from everyday life such as “I’m cold.” or “Where are there Italian restaurants in London?”. In addition, thanks to digital microphones, it now also recognises whether the driver or the passenger is speaking, in order, for example, to provide the air conditioning in the vehicle specifically to the person making the request.
The new IDA voice assistant will also appear visually to you in the future on the centre display, with interactions enabled via graphics. The optimised system also asks questions or lets itself be interrupted.
