RENAULT KADJAR AWARDED 'BEST ROAD TAX-FREE CAR' AT CARBUYER AWARDS 2018

  • Renault Kadjar wins ‘Best Road Tax-Free Car’ at the Carbuyer Awards 2018
  • Distinctive crossover praised for its blend of low emissions, refinement, space and driving dynamics
  • Renault Kadjar emits as little as 99g/km CO2
  • Kadjar range starts from only £19,785

The Renault Kadjar has underlined its efficiency and frugal running costs by being voted the ‘Best Road Tax-Free Car’ at the Carbuyer Awards 2018, held today at a ceremony in London.

The award is the latest in a rapidly-increasing number of accolades to be bestowed on the stylish Kadjar. The Carbuyer judging panel chose the Kadjar as their victor after seeing how it makes it possible for car buyers to enjoy all the benefits and comfort of a sizeable crossover, while at the same time saving money and lowering the environmental impact of their motoring.

Stuart Milne, Editor, Carbuyer, said: "It still seems remarkable that you can buy a car the size of the Renault Kadjar and still emit less than 100g/km of CO2 – making used examples registered before 1 April 2017 free to tax. Choose the 110 hp 1.5-litre diesel, and not only will your Kadjar not cost a penny in VED, but you'll still get a fantastically practical, comfortable and good looking family SUV that's great to drive.”

Vincent Tourette, Managing Director, Groupe Renault UK, said of the win: “This award is a perfect illustration of how we strive to provide our customers with stylish, class-leading vehicles that perfectly fit their requirements, but which at the same time are also affordable to own. We are delighted that it officially recognises the Renault Kadjar to be be the best choice for those car buyers who desire a VED-exempt and efficient vehicle but don’t wish to compromise on style, performance, convenience and, importantly for so many, the space that a busy family requires.”

The latest award will be of particular interest to cost-conscious, used car buyers, especially as it follows the Renault Kadjar being voted the ‘Best Used Car’ and ‘Best Used Mid-Size SUV’ in the Auto Express Used Car of the Year 2018 Awards. Notably, the Kadjar’s many other awards also include first place in the Off-road/SUV category and third place in the Auto Express Driver Power 2016 survey, which are determined entirely by owner feedback.

The Kadjar was one of two Renault models to triumph in this year’s Carbuyer Awards – the all-electric Renault ZOE also winning the ‘Best Small Company Car’ category.

The Carbuyer Best Cars Awards differ from others in that the categories are based around the questions that car buyers are most likely to ask. The awards are driven by Carbuyer.co.uk’s popular ‘Best Cars’ section and are underpinned by analysis of every new car on sale.

To determine the winners, the Carbuyer road test team judge vehicles on a wide range of criteria, which covers everything from running costs to practicality and driving dynamics to value for money. In the course of finding their winners and providing motorists with the best information, the team tests over 500 cars a year.

Since its introduction in the UK in September 2015, the Kadjar has strengthened Renault’s presence in the crossover market – building on the success of its compact crossover sibling, Captur. Signifying the completion of Renault’s crossover range, the All-New Renault Koleos D-segment crossover launched this summer. The Kadjar’s combination of striking design, efficient powertrains, spacious interior, high levels of standard specification, and five-star Euro NCAP rating have proved a hit with British car buyers with sales of over 45,000 since launching in the UK.

Renault Kadjar customers are able to choose from a total of four engines and two transmissions in either two or four-wheel drive across five trim levels. The range starts from £19,785 OTR.
