On its 65th anniversary, FIAT 500 is leading the overall electric car industry in Italy and Germany during the first half of 2022

  • In just two years, the New 500 has been chosen by more than 100,000 customers and won 30 international awards in nine countries, making it the FIAT with the most awards ever.
  • The New 500 is currently sold in 38 countries in four different geographical areas: Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Japan.
  • In the first semester 2022*, FIAT is the second brand in Europe in the overall electric car market thanks to the New 500, leading the electric market as number one in Germany and Italy and placing third in France and Spain.

Today, FIAT is celebrating the 65th anniversary of its iconic 500—a symbol of the new dolce vita which, in its electric version, has become a European leader of electric mobility.

“The New all-electric and only electric 500 has reached the podium of the European EV market in the first half of the year,” said Oliver Francois, FIAT CEO and Stellantis Global CMO. “In the first semester, the New 500 is the most sold EV in Germany – where it has become even more successful than domestic electric cars. Moreover, it is also the leader in Italy and on the podium in France and Spain. This is tangible proof of its success and of how FIAT considers its path towards electrification to be part of its historical social mission. We have created the mobility for all, we are leader in the urban mobility, now our goal is to reinvent urban mobility, make it more sustainable for everyone, true to our claim “it’s only green when it's green for all”.

Designed and made in Turin, the New 500 is a symbol of Italian creativity and is winning over fans of Made-In-Italy products throughout the world. The New 500 is currently sold in 38 countries and four different geographic areas: from Europe to Latin America, from the Middle East to Japan. Its success is also highlighted by the 30 international prizes awarded to it in nine countries by the public and experts.

With increasingly attention to “green conversion”, FIAT will accelerate its electrification strategy on the way towards a more sustainable future. The global brand currently has a full range of electrified models in Europe and, starting in 2024, all of its new models will be electric. From July 2022, FIAT UK will only sell electrified models. Finally, in 2027, FIAT will become fully electric in Europe.
